About This Prayer
This prayer is inspired by Matthew 14:22–33, when the disciples were caught in a storm on the Sea of Galilee and Jesus came to them walking upon the water. Peter stepped from the boat toward Jesus, but when he became frightened by the wind, he began to sink. He cried, “Lord, save me,” and Jesus immediately reached out and caught him.
The passage reminds us that Christian strength does not mean facing every difficulty without fear. It means continuing to turn toward Christ in the midst of fear, trusting that His hand is near even when circumstances seem overwhelming.
The Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
when the storms of life surround me and I feel afraid, tired, or overwhelmed, give me the strength to keep my eyes fixed on You.
When Peter began to sink beneath the waves, he cried out, “Lord, save me,” and You immediately reached out Your hand and caught him. Reach out Your hand to me now, Lord. Calm the fears within my heart and remind me that no storm is greater than Your power.
Give me courage when the road is difficult, patience when answers do not come, and faith when I cannot see what lies ahead. Help me trust that You are with me even in the wind and waves.
Jesus, be my strength, my refuge, and my peace. Hold me close and lead me safely through this difficult time.
Amen.
