Short Prayer for Thanking God
The Prayer
Dear God,
Thank You for the blessings You have given me.
Thank You for Your love, Your mercy,
and for walking with me through every season of life.
Help me not only to ask for Your help,
but also to return to You with gratitude
when my prayers are answered.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

About This Prayer
Gratitude is more than simply saying “thank you.” It is recognizing that our lives, our blessings, and every good gift ultimately come from God.
In the Gospel, Jesus heals ten lepers, but only one returns to thank Him. Jesus asks, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?” (Luke 17:17, RSV). The one who returned reminds us how easy it can be to receive God’s blessings and quickly move on.
This short prayer for thanking God gives us a simple way to pause, return to the Lord, and acknowledge His goodness—especially after receiving an answer to prayer, experiencing an unexpected blessing, or simply recognizing the many gifts already present in our lives.
