Prayer for a Dying Family Member

About This Prayer

This prayer is for a family member who is approaching the end of earthly life. It asks God to surround them with peace and mercy, forgive their sins, strengthen their faith, and prepare them for eternal life. It also seeks the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, traditionally invoked as the patron of a happy death.

The Prayer

Heavenly Father, we place our beloved family member into Your merciful hands. As their earthly life draws to a close, remain near and fill them with Your peace. Lord Jesus, forgive their sins, strengthen their faith, and free them from fear. Blessed Mother Mary, pray for them now and at the hour of their death, and Saint Joseph, patron of a happy death, intercede for them. When the moment comes, Lord, receive them into Your presence and the hope of eternal life. Give our family strength and help us trust in the promise of the Resurrection. Into Your hands, O Lord, we commend their spirit. Amen.
