St Peregrine Prayer

“Saint Peregrine teaches us that even in the most hopeless of human situations, healing and grace are possible through faith.” — Servite Friars

St Peregrine Prayer

The Prayer

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty” and “The Wonder-Worker” because of the many miracles obtained through your intercession. For years you bore in your own body the pain of cancer and other illness, turning to God when all human power could do no more. You were granted a vision of Jesus descending from the Cross to heal you, and through this miracle, you were restored to health. I now place before you those who are afflicted with cancer and other serious diseases, especially: (Pause to name your intention) Intercede for them and for all who suffer. May we too experience God’s healing and peace, and may we give Him thanks forever. Amen.

About This Prayer

The St Peregrine Prayer is a deeply spiritual invocation for healing, inspired by the miraculous life of Saint Peregrine Laziosi. A 14th-century Servite friar, he was known for his piety and for receiving a miraculous healing from cancer after a vision of Jesus. This prayer continues to offer comfort and hope to those facing serious illness.

When To Pray

You can pray the St Peregrine Prayer when you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer or another terminal illness, during treatment or recovery, before or after surgeries, when offering your suffering to God, or when asking for peace and courage during chronic pain. It is also prayed during novenas, healing Masses, or personal devotions seeking the saint’s intercession.
