The Prayer
Loving Father,
You know the pain, fear, and longing within every heart. Today I lift before You all who suffer from addiction — especially those courageously seeking prayer and healing. Wrap them in Your mercy and remind them that they are not alone, for You never abandon the ones You love.
Lord Jesus, You came to set captives free. Break the chains that bind their body, mind, and soul. Restore their strength when they grow weary, renew their faith when they feel lost, and let them know their worth in Your eyes has never faded.
Send Your Holy Spirit to guide them toward recovery, peace, and purpose. May the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, St. Monica, St. Maximilian Kolbe, and all the saints who endured suffering bring them courage and hope each day.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
About This Prayer
This Catholic prayer is for those who are personally battling addiction and have the courage to reach out for prayer. It reflects the Church’s call to accompany those in pain with compassion, not judgment — to remind them that God’s grace is stronger than any struggle. The prayer acknowledges the dignity of every soul and asks for both divine strength and supportive community on the path to healing.
When To Pray
This prayer can be said privately or with others whenever someone asks for prayer for addiction — at home, in a support group, before Confession, or during Eucharistic Adoration. It’s especially powerful to pray before sleep or at moments of temptation, inviting Christ’s peace into moments of vulnerability.
