About

Saint Catherine of Siena was a 14th-century lay Dominican, mystic, and peacemaker born in Siena, Italy. From a young age, she experienced mystical visions and devoted herself completely to Christ, even living in seclusion for several years. Despite not being formally educated, she became a powerful voice in the Church, writing letters to popes and rulers, urging reform, peace, and holiness. Her most famous work, The Dialogue, records her conversations with God and reveals her deep theological insights.

Legacy

Saint Catherine is one of the most influential female saints in Church history. She played a vital role in returning the papacy from Avignon to Rome and worked tirelessly for Church reform during a time of division and political unrest. In 1970, she was declared a Doctor of the Church, one of the first women to receive this title. Her fearless love for Christ and the Church continues to inspire Catholics seeking truth, courage, and holiness.
