The Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of friendship. You know the heart of my friend — their joys, struggles, and needs. Pour out Your blessings upon them today. Fill their life with peace, hope, and strength. Protect them from harm, comfort them in sorrow, and draw them ever closer to Your Sacred Heart. May Your light guide their steps, and may Your grace sustain them in every trial. Help me to love and support them as You have loved and supported me. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

About This Prayer

This Prayer for a Friend is a heartfelt expression of gratitude and intercession. It reminds us that friendship is one of God’s most precious gifts — a reflection of His own love and companionship. Praying for a friend deepens that bond, lifting them into God’s care and entrusting their life to His providence. The prayer echoes Christ’s teaching in John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

When To Pray

This prayer can be said any time you want to offer support, thanksgiving, or encouragement for a friend. It’s especially fitting when a friend is sick, struggling, facing big decisions, or simply in need of peace. It may also be prayed during Holy Hour, personal reflection, or as part of daily devotions.
