About

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was a Visitation nun chosen by Christ to reveal the depths of His love through devotion to His Sacred Heart. Born into suffering, illness, and family hardship, she learned early in life to lean completely on Jesus. At the monastery in Paray-le-Monial, she began receiving visions of Christ—visions in which He showed her His Heart burning with love for humanity. Jesus entrusted her with a mission: to spread devotion to His Sacred Heart and teach the world about His mercy, reparation for sin, and the power of His love. Her revelations eventually became the foundation for First Friday devotions, the Holy Hour, and the universal celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart. Though misunderstood and even opposed at first, Margaret Mary remained obedient, humble, and faithful. After her death, her message spread throughout the Church, transforming Catholic spirituality around the world.

Legacy

St. Margaret Mary’s greatest legacy is her unwavering witness that the Heart of Jesus is the refuge of sinners and the source of victory in spiritual battle. Her revelations led millions to discover the power of Christ’s love expressed through His pierced Heart—love stronger than sin, fear, or darkness. Today, devotion to the Sacred Heart remains one of the Church’s most cherished spiritual practices, reminding the faithful that Jesus longs to draw every soul into His burning, merciful love.
