About This Prayer
This traditional Catholic prayer, commonly known as the Eternal Rest Prayer, is offered for the souls of the faithful departed. It is especially appropriate on All Souls’ Day (November 2), when the Church commemorates all the faithful departed and prays for the souls in Purgatory.
The Prayer
Here is a common All Souls Day Prayer:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
