The Prayer
Merciful Lord, with a pure heart I thank you for taking away my sins. Let your Holy Spirit guide my life so that my soul may bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Renew my desire to be your faithful friend and servant, increase my loving dependence on you, and grant me that joy and peace of heart which comes from doing your holy will.

About This Prayer
This prayer is a beautiful act of thanksgiving following the forgiveness of sins. It expresses gratitude for God’s mercy while asking the Holy Spirit to continue the work of conversion within us. Drawing upon the fruits of the Holy Spirit, the prayer reminds us that reconciliation with God is not simply about leaving sin behind, but about beginning again with a renewed desire to live according to His will.
It is especially appropriate after receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, when we can thank God for His mercy and ask for the grace to remain faithful to Him.
