The Prayer

Lord God, Creator of heaven and earth, You watch over all who travel. I place myself in Your care as I begin this flight. Grant safety to our pilot and crew, keep every passenger in Your protection, and guard us from all harm in the air and on the ground. May Your angels surround this aircraft, and may we arrive safely at our destination. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

About This Prayer

This Catholic Prayer for Safe Flight entrusts air travel to God’s providence and asks for the protection of all on board. It reflects the Catholic tradition of invoking God’s guardianship through the intercession of His angels for journeys by land, sea, or air. Praying before a flight can bring peace of mind, especially for those who are anxious about flying, and serves as a reminder of God’s presence and care in every circumstance.

When To Pray

Pray this shortly before boarding a plane, during takeoff, or silently during the journey for calm and reassurance. It can also be prayed by loved ones for someone who is traveling. Many Catholics combine this with the Sign of the Cross, the Guardian Angel Prayer, or a decade of the Rosary for added comfort and spiritual protection.
