The Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of this new day. We place our family and friends into Your loving care. Bless those we love near and far. Protect them in their work, their travels, and their daily responsibilities. Lord, grant them peace of heart and clarity of mind. Strengthen those who feel tired, comfort those who are struggling, and guide those facing difficult decisions. Help us to be patient, kind, and generous with one another, reflecting Your love in all we do. May Your Holy Spirit walk with us today. Keep our words gentle, our actions faithful, and our hearts fixed on You. We trust this day to Your providence and offer it for Your glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

About This Prayer

This Morning Prayer for Family and Friends is a simple offering of trust and surrender at the start of the day. In the Catholic tradition, morning prayer is a way of consecrating daily life to God, asking Him to bless not only ourselves but those entrusted to our care. This prayer reflects the Church’s belief that love of God is inseparable from love of neighbor, especially our family and friends. It invites God’s protection, peace, and guidance while reminding us to live out charity through patience, kindness, and faithfulness.

When To Pray

This prayer may be prayed each morning upon waking, before breakfast, or as a family before leaving for school or work. It is especially fitting on busy weekdays, during times of stress or uncertainty, or when loved ones are traveling or facing challenges. Praying it regularly helps families begin the day rooted in gratitude, trust in God’s providence, and a shared intention to live faithfully.
